The Ohio Connection

Born, March 16, 1889, at 57 Clark Place, Columbus, across the street from Ohio State University's Buckeye Field.
First performed for an audience at the age of 2 ½ years on the steps of the First Congregational Church on E. Broad Street.
Maintained her girlhood home, dubbed "El-Jan," until 1930.

The WOSU Stations, in partnership with the Ohioana Library,
and with support from the Ohio Humanities Council and the National Endowment for the Humanities, developed Ohioana Authors.

The mission of the Ohioana Library Association is to recognize and encourage the creative accomplishments of Ohioans, to preserve and to expand a permanent archive of books, sheet music, manuscripts, and other materials by Ohioans and about Ohio, and to disseminate information about the work of Ohio writers, musicians, and other artists to researchers, schools, and the general public.
