Robert McCloskey Ohioana Authors

Beloved children’s book author and illustrator, Robert McCloskey, captivated generations of readers with his award-winning books including Make Way for Ducklings, Lentil, and Blueberries for Sal. Born and raised in Hamilton, Ohio, McCloskey was the first two-time winner of the prestigious Caldecott Medal for children’s book illustration.

Because of its popularity and setting in Boston, Make Way forDucklings was named the official children’s book of Massachusetts in 2003. But McCloskey’s early experiences in Hamilton shaped the author’s signature style. Classics such as Lentil, Homer Price and Centerburg Tales appeal to children through a mix of humor, mischief and adventure in hometown America.
