The Ohio Connection
- Born in the southwestern Ohio village of Bowersville, Norman Vincent Peale lived in Highland, Cincinnati, Norwood, Westwood, Greenville and Bellefontaine over the course of his father’s
career in Christian ministry.
- Norman’s father, Charles Clifford Peale, was pastor of the First Methodist Episcopal Church in Columbus from 1930 to 1936.
- A 1920 graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Peale became a trustee and lived to see the university build a chapel in his name.
- Peale worked briefly as a reporter for the Morning Republican in Findlay while contemplating a career in the ministry.
Peale wrote the Columbus Dispatch column, “Confident Living.”
